Sindbjerg/Stoubjerg

ENGLISH VERSION:

Sindbjerg and Stoubjerg are the names of the two significant mountaintops north of the lake Borresø. The tale goes that two rivaling giants needed a place to rest between their battles and then placed Stoubjerg and Stoubjerg on the moor in Sejs.

Formerly, Sindbjerg and Stoubjerg belonged to a farm but in 1910, the farmer sold the hilltops to manufacture Hammer and editor of the local newspaper Sophus Sørensen. They bought the mountains in order to preserve the magnificent area in its present form and furthermore, they secured them by preservation. This preservation was later on extended with a preservation of Sejs Moor - so today it covers a total of 56 hectare. Today there is a monument of the initiative on the top of Stoubjerg. Presumably, for centuries the mountains were coved by heather. The preservation has to ensure that they remain covered with heather and that the view from the two mountains to Himmelbjerget is preserved for the future generations to enjoy.

In the open heather landscape, the two mountains are very recognizable with their majestic appearance. It can seem almost impossible to pass such a challenging obstacle - but be brave. Others have done it before you!
